First Baptist World Changers International Ministries
First Baptist World Changers International Ministries is a church of vision where we believe in the lifestyle of holiness, living clean, and doing the right things that God requires of us. Our present pastor, Rev. Lennell D. Caldwell was elected in October of 1993. Under his leadership as he is guided by the Holy Spirit, First Baptist has experienced a "new birth" and the membership has continued to increase spiritually, financially, and numerically.
Our History
The late Rev. W. M. Ferrell, pastor of Detroit, Michigan's Macedonia Baptist was contacted by the late Brothers J. D. Young and A. Murray. A council was called on June 3, 1920 and First Baptist was organized as a church with twelve families who were living in the village of Roseville. The first officers of First Baptist were the late Rev. W. D. Edding, Pastor; Deacon J. D. Young; Deacon A. Murray; John Jackson, Church Secretary; Bro. J. D. Young, Sunday School Superintendent; and Sister Phillis Smith, Mother Board.
In 1922, the first parsonage for First Baptist was built with the donations from members and Detroitís Macedonia Baptist Church. Under the leadership of the late Rev. G. W. Wallace, the Church was rebuilt and the cornerstone dedication of the Roseville site was held on June 6, 1948.
During the years, First Baptist was known as Roseville Baptist Church, First Baptist Church and Greater First Baptist Church. In 1952, the official corporation papers were submitted to the State of Michigan, which made the legal name FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH of ROSEVILLE.
In January of 2000, Pastor Lennell Caldwell as directed by God, shared the enhanced name that reflects the worldwide vision which God had given for this church. The legal name of FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH OF ROSEVILLE is now FIRST BAPTIST WORLD CHANGERS INTERNATIONAL MINISTRIES.
When Rev. Lennell D. Caldwell assumed the pastorship at First Baptist, God made a covenant with the Pastor and First Baptist based on 2 Chronicles 7:16. "For now have I chosen and sanctified this house, that my name may be there for ever: and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually." This church has a burden for souls to be delivered from substance abuse, illnesses and all manners of sin. We focus on bringing families together and their salvation. We believe you can live free from sin and Holiness is the only way.
1 Peter 1:15,16 says, "But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy."
